Cinnamon Spiced Pears
Pimp your porridge with these cinnamon spiced pears. This adds a new level of belly warming in the mornings. The best thing about this one is you can make a big batch, portion for the fridge and even pop in the freezer for another day. This recipe serves 2-3 which is perfect to get you through some dark mornings.
2 pears of any variety
1tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
2 tbsp sugar (we used demerara)
2 tbsp water
If you wanted to make it a bit festive, add some orange zest and raisins.
Chop your pears into cubes, no need to remove the skins. Add to a pan with all the ingredients. Simmer on a low heat until the pear is softened and cooked through. The sugar will create a lovely syrup which sweetens the porridge too.
Serve on top of your choice of porridge.
